Vacation

We took our first real "vacation" a couple weeks ago. We went to Arizona where my mom and brother + families and Allen's brother and sister + families live. It is extremely stupid to go to Phoenix in July, but the tickets were super cheap, so we did it anyway. I was nervous about taking Elizabeth on the plane. I had visions of her screaming and wanting to get down the whole time and people giving me dirty looks and making comments under their breath about me being a terrible mother or having a terrible child. I find that imagining worst-case scenarios makes it easier for me to be pleased with the results. So, the flight actually went really well! :)
We had about an hour to kill in the airport before we left, so we took turns following Lizzie around and bribing her with snacks.

She was a really good girl on the plane. We gave her a binky to help with her ears popping. She loved pulling the window shade up and down over and over again.

Lizzie's Grandma Camp brought her lots of clothes and fun presents including this giant stuffed ladybug which Elizabeth kept flopping on.

We went to a Cabela's which is a hunting/athletic store and they had a museum type thing in it, so Lizzie got to see a bunch of dead, stuffed animals. She was thrilled. :)

One day we went to a "splash pad" and played in the water. I thought she would be all over it, but she was more excited about the park area instead of the water area. We kept having to chase her down because we were all playing in the water but she just wanted to go in the grass or on the slides. She eventually won and Allen and Grandpa Camp went over with her.

Being a diva with Aunt Kelly's sunglasses.
We went to the mall one day and she got to drive some of the cars.

Happy Birthday To Me

For my birthday this year, my husband had to work, so for most of the day, it felt like any other Saturday. But when he got off work, Allen took me out to dinner and he gave me a bracelet. The next day, my dad had the families in the area over for dinner and we partied hard core.

Lizzie learned how to play "Ring Around the Rosie" and has been obsessed with it ever since.
Despite all the planning, nobody thought to get candles, which was fine with me because now there is no proof of how old I am.

I don't remember why I have that look on my face. I'm sure I had a good reason.

I blew it out on the first try.

This is my sister Melanie's daughter Trista. Elizabeth goes to their house when I work, so they got really close this last year. Trista is like her big sister and is very sweet with her. Lizzie basically is her little doll and loves every minute of it. It makes me happy that she gets to be so close with some of her cousins.
